Attention, Male U.S. Citizens,
Why you deserve to know:
You deserve to be advised that the federal government is about to fully
reinstate its Selective Service System a/k/a “the draft.” You deserve to be
advised because unlike many who are older than you, you have little or no
responsibility for our government’s war policy. And despite your lack of
responsibility, many of the people who are to blame want you to pay the
price for their policy. Paying the price for them means being drafted and
possibly injured or killed in their Middle Eastern War. And that’s not
fair.
Estimated time of arrival for the draft is four months after the November,
2004 federal elections, or March 1, 2005. That’s fifteen months from now.
Why other people are not telling you that this is going to happen:
You are not likely to hear about the reinstatement of the draft from the
government itself. The whole point of the draft is to compel male U.S.
citizens, ages 18-25, to serve in the federal government’s Armed Forces.
The reason they must be compelled is because they do not wish to enlist in
the Armed Forces voluntarily. Since the federal government knows that you
do not want to enlist voluntarily, that government will not notify you in
advance about the reinstatement of the draft. If it did, then you would
have time to change plans regarding your availability. If you were allowed
sufficient notice to change your plans, you might decide to become
unavailable. If many of you did that, you would be able to frustrate the
government’s purpose in reinstating the draft.
Neither are you likely to hear about reinstatement of the draft from your
high school or college.
Without telling you, your local high school is already cooperating with the
federal government’s “Department of Defense.” A little known provision in
the “No Child Left Behind Act” passed by the Republicrat Congress and signed
by Bush II requires high schools to forward the names and addresses of high
school juniors and seniors to the “Department of Defense.” Some of you may
have received recruiting literature in the mail while you were in high
school. This is how the government came to know who you were and where you
lived.
Colleges depend for their survival on their students being eligible for
federal student loans and grants. Any student who fails to register for the
Selective Service System is ineligible for such tuition assistance.
Therefore, colleges want their students to register for the draft so those
students will be able to pay tuition. The colleges know that if they tell
you a draft is coming, it makes you less likely to register for the draft.
Therefore, the colleges won’t tell you.
Neither are the media likely to tell you that the draft is going to be
reinstated.
I define the “media” as consisting of the television networks, cable
channels, newsmagazines and the larger newspapers from which the smaller
papers take their cue. Eight or so media conglomerates own almost all of
them: Time Warner, Disney, Viacom, News Corp., General Electric/NBC, Dow
Jones, Washington Post and the New York Times.
Many of the most influential individuals within these conglomerates identify
with the nation of Israel and support the Middle Eastern War in order to
benefit Israel. If they believe a draft is required for the United States
to have enough soldiers to benefit Israel, they are not likely to say or do
anything to create controversy about the draft. Such as telling you that
it’s going to be reinstated.
Also, some of the conglomerates, like GE/NBC and Dow Jones have financial
reasons for supporting the Middle Eastern War, such as contracts with
Department of Defense, stock in oil companies, etc. If they think a draft
is necessary to continue the war effort, they won’t tell you it’s coming.
One conglomerate, News Corporation, is selling a lot of advertising because
it acts like a cheerleader for the Republican Party, especially for Bush
II’s waging of the Middle Eastern War. Fox News will not be “fair and
balanced” by covering a controversial issue likely to hurt the Republican
Party, such as reinstating the draft. So Fox News Channel won’t tell you
about it.
Why a draft is imminent:
Currently, the federal government’s armed forces are stationed in 146
different countries around the world.
Obviously, that government recently invaded Yugoslavia, Afghanistan and
Iraq, and is threatening war against Iran and Syria.
The government’s warmongering has spread its Armed Forces so thin that
Republicrat leaders in Congress are proposing that the military be expanded.
The first step in reinstating the draft is for the government to claim that
it is necessary because of “national emergency.” To do that, the government
will try to show that “not enough” recruits are enlisting voluntarily. The
“not enough” will be demonstrated by having the number of recruits fall
short of the number of enlistment slots that are budgeted. On September 16,
2003, the New York Times said that the “Department of Defense” was already
having trouble recruiting the 100,000 enlistments a year it needs to
maintain troop strength. The proposed rapid expansion of the military
guarantees that there will be a shortfall of enlistments, i.e., that the
government will not be able to fill the additional slots with volunteers.
This shortfall will be used to justify reinstating the draft, on the grounds
of “national emergency.”
The media already supports the Middle Eastern War and is signaling that it
will support the draft. The largest media conglomerate, Time Warner, just
designated “The American Soldier” as its “Person of the Year,” something it
hasn’t done in over fifty years.
The cover story seems to expect that the government will bring back the
draft. Its author writes in passing that “most nations” “conscript those
who serve in their armed forces.” A sidebar story asks: “Is it time to
bring back the draft?” The author does not answer the question.
While the Republicrats have already decided to reinstate the draft, they
won’t be ready to do it until after the November 2004 elections. Trying to
reinstate the draft before the elections would allow it to become a
political issue that could affect their outcome. That might make it more
difficult to reinstate the draft. So the Republicrats have agreed that, for
now, the draft is “not an issue.”
After the November, 2004 election, with the next Presidential election four
years away, the Republicrat leadership in Congress will deem it safe to pass
a law reinstating the draft. Little debate or fanfare will accompany it,
just as when Congress quietly voted to support the invasion of Iraq. The
media will tell the public that the a national emergency requires
reinstatement of the draft, and will portray those who criticize the draft
as unpatriotic.
I believe that a bill reinstating the draft is already written, and that it
will be introduced, passed and signed into law within 60 days of the 109th
Congress convening in January, 2005. It will require male U.S. citizens
ages 18-25 to report to a draft board immediately after high schools and
colleges recess for the summer, probably no later than July 4, 2005.
I can foresee only one contingency that could interfere with reinstating the
draft: Howard Dean’s election to the Presidency. All other major
candidates for President, whether “Democrat” or “Republican” are on the
record supporting the Middle Eastern War. And, except for Dean, they will
all support a draft.
What to do about the draft:
It’s against the law to tell anyone to evade the draft. Therefore, I won’t
tell you to do it. My advice would be to follow the examples set by our
current generation of political leaders.
You may emulate former President Bill Clinton and enroll in a college or
university outside the United States. You may emulate President George W.
Bush and enlist as an officer in the National Guard and get suspended for
not completing your annual medical exam.
Academic deferments have been abolished, so there’s no point in emulating
Vice-President Richard “I had other priorities” Cheney and Assistant
Secretary of Defense Paul “Go get ‘em” Wolfowitz.
You may wish to start laying the groundwork now for your “conscientious
objector” exemption.
Whatever you decide to do, the most important thing is never to admit that
you intended to evade the draft. Remember, something “just happened” to
make you unavailable.
Why I am telling you this:
Finally, I will be honest that my own political views are the reason why I
am telling you about the draft.
In June, 2003, federal courts decided that discrimination against American
men of European ancestry was legal because it promoted diversity. This
means it is legal to deny someone a job or admission to university because
they are an Anglo-Saxon American, German-American, Irish-Americans or
Italian-American.
For the most part, those courts have also decided that no reference to the
Christian God can be made anywhere outside the church or home, e.g., by
saying the Pledge of Allegiance, or by displaying the Ten Commandments or
Christmas nativity scenes.
I am an American male, Christian, of European descent. I do not wish to
become a second class citizen in my own country. And I don’t believe in
helping a government that wants to turn me into one.
Today, the federal government’s combat troops are still disproportionately
comprised of white males - that is, male U.S. citizens, overwhelmingly
Christian, of European ancestry.
This is the same group of people the government has said may be
discriminated against because of their color. This is the same group of
people whose religion - Christianity - is in the process of being outlawed.
I do not believe these same people should be compelled to defend with their
lives a government that has targeted them, and me, for racial and religious
discrimination. Instead, I believe we should stop supporting that
government altogether.
What can you do now?:
Examine your conscience and act accordingly.
